The article has applyed the method of history and political science to analyse the character of the war the put -down of Huaixi Area and the action of Pei Du, Duan Wenchang,Huangpu Bo and Cheng Yi during the war, to do textual research on some achievements about Tangan Princess and Shi Xiaozhong, the political inclination about Duan Wenchang in the dividing line of literati and officialdom party ,and the background of Duan Wenchang’s article adopted by Tang Xianzong ,with the result that many problems about the dispute of personnel and the sttuggle of literati and officialdom at that time are interrelated, for exampe ,the difference between the ends and the gist of “On the Monument to the Put down of Huaixi Area” written by both Duan Wenchang and Han Yu, the ruine of Han Yu’s monument and the establishment of Duan’s Monument have been involved in the problem under disscussion.
