The authors collected multiple blood cultures from a patient diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma for multiple tissue culture and successfully established a permanent epithelial mucin-producing cell line (HLC-I). This cell line is characterized by the growth of monolayers or layers of epithelial cells. Its growth doubling time is about 33 hours, with 68 mode chromosomes. There were 17.9% colonies in liquid medium and 8.3% in semi-solid agar. This cell produces a large amount of epithelial mucin and shows many secreted particles and a few blocked emboli under the electron microscope. Histologically, it was observed by rotary culture that HLC-I cells began to form spherical aggregates of tubular adenoidoid-like structures within a few hours.
