美国科学家研究发现,胎儿期缺铁的孩子到上学时和同龄人相比会表现出语言和运动技巧方面的滞后。在研究过程中,研究人员收集了278名新生儿的脐带血后对铁的浓度进行了测定。这些孩子在5岁时接受了有关语言能力、运动技巧、注意力和智力的测试。研究人员发现,血液中铁浓度水平过低的孩子和血液中铁浓度水平中等的孩子相比,在精细运动技巧测试中得分较低的可能性高近5倍;而且他们在语言能力测试中得分也较低。
A study by American scientists found that children who are deficient in iron during the fetal period show a lag in language and motor skills compared with their peers at school. During the study, researchers measured cord iron concentrations after collecting cord blood from 278 newborns. At the age of 5, these children received tests on language skills, motor skills, attention and intelligence. The researchers found that children whose blood iron levels were too low were almost 5 times more likely to score lower in the fine motor skills test than children whose blood iron levels were moderate, and they also scored less in language proficiency tests low.
