This paper presents an engine power model and measurement technique to study the intake vortex flow in a four-stroke engine cylinder. In order to observe the flow of air in the cylinder, the cylinder liner and piston top of the model are made of transparent organic glass. In order to qualitatively determine the direction of the local average flow, a wire grid was used. Anemometer was used to measure the total eddy current characteristics of the airflow. Three vertical velocity components of the local average velocity were measured using a hot wire anemometer mounted on single sensitive elements in three measured orientations. Analysis shows that the results of this measurement technique, the error is within ± 20%.
