二战的一个冬天,天气异常寒冷。美军欧洲战区总司令艾森豪威尔考察了法国某地后,乘车赶往总部,去参加紧急军事会议。这时,他突然发现前方有一位穿着邋遢的男子,蜷缩着坐在路边,冻得瑟瑟发抖。艾森豪威尔命令司机停下车,让随从把男子请上车来。随从有些不情愿,提醒道:“我们要尽快赶到总部,还是不要管了吧!”艾森豪威尔却坚持说:“他穿得那么少,如果我们不管他,他会被活活冻死的。”随从只好照做。
