VAD 法不仅产量高,而且它的应用极其广泛,正被看作成光纤今后的主要制造方法。正当光纤实用化之际,怎样保证光纤长期的可靠性已是当今的重要课题。这里介绍 VAD 法概要,同时报导了由 VAD 法制成的光纤传输特性及可靠性试验。本报导的结果表明:VAD 光纤的各种特性与以前的 CVD 法制成的光纤相比毫无逊色,在实际使用上也毫无问题。
The VAD method is not only high in yield but also extremely versatile in use, and is being considered as the main manufacturing method for optical fibers in the future. Just as fiber practical, how to ensure the long-term reliability of fiber is an important issue today. Here is a summary of the VAD method, along with the fiber transmission characteristics and reliability tests made by the VAD method. The results reported in this report show that the various characteristics of VAD fibers are comparable to the ones produced by the previous CVD method and that there is no problem in practical use.
