采用语料库文本分析法,通过纵向对比系统考察了专业英语学习者作文中情态动词语义表达发展路径。研究发现:(1)高年级学生在各类情态句式使用频次上较低年级学生总体呈接近于本族语者的趋势,但差距仍然显著;(2)高、低年级学生均表现出义务情态显著过多使用而认识情态显著少用现象,且在“有灵主语+VM”这一责任情态句式中过多使用人称代词作为情态动词的主语;(3)认识情态表达句式的使用频次并不会随着学习者语言水平的提高而明显增加。
By means of corpus text analysis, this paper examines the development path of semantic expression of modal verbs in EFL learners’ compositions through vertical comparison. The findings are as follows: (1) Students in higher grades have lower frequency of use in all kinds of modal sentences. Generally speaking, grade students tend to be close to native speakers, but the difference is still significant. (2) Students in both upper and lower grades show their obligations Too much modality is used while the modality is significantly less used, and too much personal pronouns are used as the modal verbs in the “Modal + VM” sentence pattern; (3) The frequency of use does not increase significantly with the improvement of language proficiency of learners.
