三氯乙醛在DDT,敌百虫和水合氯醛的生产中被大量使用。位于××水库上游的××农药厂的生产污水中含有大量的三氯乙醛,未经处理的污水中三氯乙醛的含量可以高达1000~4500毫克/升。1972年良田屯的饮用水井受到该农药厂的污水污染后,居民中曾经出现嗜睡、乏力等症状。为了防止××水库的污染,保护居民健康,要求提出三氯乙醛的卫生标准,为此进行了三氯乙醛在地面水中最大容许浓度的研究。
