NASA’s Web site on October 28, 2013 reported that ATK Corporation, a manufacturer of solid propellant boosters for the US heavy launch vehicle space launch system (SLS), announced that it has successfully completed the filament winding manufacturing of advanced booster composite housings. This is part of their commitment to NASA’s Advanced Booster Risk Reduction project, which is aimed at retrofitting the upgraded SLS booster.
