The electron donor-acceptor(EDA)association constants for the reaction of poly(N-vinylcarbazole)(PVK)samples,prepared under three conditions respectively,or their model compound,N-ethenylcarbazole(NECA),as a donor, and polynitrofluotenone as an acceptor and the molar ab-sorption coefficients of their products have been determined.By analysis of ~1H NMR of PVK quan-titatively,the isotactic sequence’s percentage X_1 is estimated. The association constants K may begiven byK=K_1X_1+K_2X_2,where the subscripts 1 and 2 denote the isotactic and syndiotactic sequenceof the polymer respectively. From the principle of spectral analyses has been deduced the followingrelationship:K_ε=K_1X_16_1ε_1+K_2X_2ε_2,and estimated the values for K_1,K_2,ε_1 and ε_2,where e is the molarabsorption coefficient.
