日本“物派”艺术是20世纪60年代亚洲艺术出现的一个重要运动。对于“物派”艺术家而言,现代工业社会的生存现实、自我与社会和现实与当代社会的联系,这一系列矛盾的纠葛以及民族主义直接迫使艺术家去思考如何获得一种新的语言形态。而“物派”艺术则试图为现代社会的艺术注入东方色彩。无论从作品形态还是创作观念而言,或者就区域文化与当代艺术的关系而言,“物派”艺术都应当引起我们的高度关注。在对中国当代艺术发展状态的特征与缘由进行分析中,我们不难发现,中国当代艺术所面临的问题与“物派”艺术在当时文化境遇又有很多类似之处,这就给我们对二者之间进行对比提供了可能。
