China has a long history and has many ancient and beautiful cities. Many cities are recorded by UNESCO as national tangible cultural heritage. A recent fire in Dukezong, Yunnan, China, destroyed most of the ancient city buildings, reminding us that the cultural heritage is as fragile as ancient porcelain or a picture scroll without good measures or policies to protect them There is a good chance they will disappear from the victorious resorts that survived destruction and plunder. As a foreigner deeply fascinated by Chinese culture and tradition, I think there should be some basic steps for a city to retain its best historical value.
