综述了建国后特别是改革开放30年来中国在信息化领域取得的巨大成就:信息基础设施、计算机拥有量、互联网接入等国家信息化发展基本环境快速发展,信息化的准备度快速提升;信息技术在传统产业改造、电子政务的全面推进以及社会信息化和文化信息化等领域的覆盖程度和应用水平越来越高,信息化的应用度向纵深发展;信息产业成为国民经济支柱产业、新兴产业异军突起、城乡数字鸿沟开始缩小,信息化在中国国民经济和社会发展中的战略地位已经确立,信息化的影响度日益显著。
