Metal matrix composites provide excellent mechanical properties for light metal structures. However, until recently, these high-performance materials did not find many major industrial applications markets, largely because of their manufacturing costs. Now developed ceramic reinforced aluminum alloy is an important new development, it is a good material in industrial metal matrix composites, and is being produced cheaply by casting, but also for remelting and casting molding. This material can also be extruded, forged and rolled. This article describes the patented manufacturing method for this material and the extrusion and casting techniques for making semi-finished products.
