The coupling of basin and orogen is a common phenomenon in continellt tectonics. In the paper, we callthe basin and orogen that have close relationship in origin and resulted from the united geologicalbackground as basin-andirange system. Based on its geodynndc featues, basin-and-range systeth isclassified into compession, extensional and sliding tyPes. Its relationship with the oil-gas enrichment,especially in foreland basin-orogen system, is discussed.
