It has been reported that growth hormone (GH), insulin, and insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) regulate granulosa cell maturation, but its mechanism of action has not yet been fully elucidated. Hutchinson et al. Studied the nature of the interactions between GH, IGF-I and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and their effect on the production of granulosa cells. Granular cells used in the experiment were taken from diethylstilbestrol-treated immature rats and stimulated with pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) or FSH ex vivo.
