Ⅰ.Preface As a cultural artifact of the Inner Eurasian Steppe belonging to the period from the Bronze to the Early Iron Age,the deer-stone has usually been discovered in Mongolias north-weste Hangay Mountains,H6vs-Gol Aimag,and the Altay Mountains.According to B.B.Volkov,about four hundred deer-stones have been discovered in Mongolia.[1] During recent years,these Mongolian deer-stones have been the focus of study of some scholars,and questions regarding their types,function,date,and relationship with the large stone mounds called khirigsuurs have been well discussed.We are indebted to the archaeologists of the former Soviet Union who were the main discoverers and researchers of deer-stones.
