Objective To study the expression of CA9 and VEGF in tumor tissue of patients with glioma and its relationship with tumor grade and prognosis. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of CA9 and VEGF in 62 cases of gliomas. The expressions of CA9 and VEGF were compared with those of gliomas and their survival time. Results The positive rates of CA9 and VEGF in gliomas were 59.7% and 62.9%, respectively. The positive rates of CA9 and VEGF in different WHO classification were statistically significant (P <0.05). The positive rates of CA9 and VEGF in patients with Kps score ≤70 were significantly lower than those with Kps score> 70 (P <0.05). Patients with positive expression of CA9 and VEGF had significantly longer survival time than those with negative expression (P <0.05). Conclusions CA9 and VEGF are highly expressed in glioma, and the positive rate of expression is correlated with tumor grade, Kps score and survival time, which may be a negative prognostic factor for glioma.
