几内亚15世纪,一批欧洲航海家初次在现今的几内亚博发省的费尔加角登陆,当他们向一位妇女打听当地的地名时,这位妇女异常惊惶,随口回答了一声‘几内’(当地苏苏语,意为‘妇女’)。意思是说,‘我是一个妇道之人,你们有什么事去找男人吧!’欧洲人没有听懂她的话,以为妇女回答的是当地的地名,就在航海图上记下‘几内’。于是这个名称便流传下来成为国名。‘几内亚’(中文)是从英文翻译过来的,它在法文、葡文中都译成‘几内’,而不是几内亚。
Guinea In the 15th century, when a group of European navigators landed for the first time in the present-day Ferga, in Bo Phut Province, Guinea, when they asked a woman about the names of places, the woman was unusually frightened and casually answered ’Guinea’ (Local Susu, meaning “women”). Means to say, ’I am a woman who, what are you going to find a man now! Europeans did not understand her words, that women answered the names of local places, just on the chart that ’Guinei’. So this name will be handed down as the country name. ’Guinea’ (Chinese) is translated from English, it is translated into French, Portuguese, ’within a few’, not Guinea.
