最近,省教育厅和中国新民主主义青年团江苏省委员会,根据国务院“关于加强农民业余文化教育的指示”及教育部“关于一九五五年冬到一九五六年春组织农民参加学习的通知”,联合召开了农民业余教育会议。要求各地紧密结合农业合作化运动的发展,积极组织农民学习文化,大力开展识字教育,以有助于推进农业合作化胜利地向前发展。具体规划是:今冬明春,全省计划组织二百五十六万人入学,计扫盲班二百四十一万人,高小班十五万人。要求扫盲班能学会记工和算账,高小班能为合作社培养会计、技术员等后备人材。并确定了扫盲班进行识字教育必须做到“学以致用”,要根据教育部通知编三本课本。在远景计划方面,初步确定到一九六○年,要在农村一千三百多万文盲中,扫除一千一百万文盲,达到基本上扫除农村青壮年当中的文盲;在此期间,还准备试办农民业余中学。这些说明,随着农业合作化高潮的到来,农村中不久要掀起一个学习文化的高潮了。
