清华大学自行车南下宣传队,原是1935年12月中旬,由一群热血青年学子自动组织起来的(在学生救国会备案)。这仅是“一二·九”声势浩大的学生运动中的一支小分队,是波澜壮阔的革命洪流中的涓滴水珠。同学们满怀激情,骑自行车到国民党的巢穴——南京,抗议、揭露蒋介石召集“伪代表”聆训,破坏、分裂学生运动的阴谋。经过1300公里艰险的征途,深入乡镇农村,向人民大众进行抗日宣传。凋敝穷困的乡村,沉溺在水深火热中凄惨困苦的人民,政治腐败,汉奸横行……沿途所见残酷的现实使他们触目惊心,而进一步接受党的教育和领导。
