日立庄山悦彦社长日前在北京举行新闻发布会宣布:日立今后在华业务的发展重点将转向信息通信、半导体、显示器、数字媒体及新一代家电等新兴领域。到2005年,在华销售总额将从2000年的11.5亿美元增长到45亿美元,生产规模将由5.2亿美元扩大到40亿美元,采购额更将扩大到37亿美元。日立过去在华的业务主要以传统家电为主,在厦门还投资设立了彩电生产企业。但这些年由于中国国内家电市场竞争异常激烈,国产彩电价格一路下降,许多洋品牌彩电市场份额明显萎缩,其中也包括日立。日立不仅进口原装产品受到严重冲击,就是在华合资产品也失去了竞争优势。日立中国事务负责人在接受采访时坦承,日立彩电目前在价格上无法与国内大品牌抗衡。但他同时也表示,中国家电业这种竞争过于恶性,目前的价格并没有反映出企业真实的生
President Hitachi Zhuangshan Yueyan held a press conference in Beijing recently to announce that Hitachi’s business focus in China will shift to emerging areas such as information and communications, semiconductors, displays, digital media and next-generation appliances. By 2005, the total sales in China will increase from US$1.15 billion in 2000 to US$4.5 billion, the production scale will be expanded from US$520 million to US$4.0 billion, and the purchase amount will be further expanded to US$3.7 billion. Hitachi’s past operations in China focused mainly on traditional household appliances and invested in the production of color TV manufacturers in Xiamen. However, due to the fierce competition in China’s domestic appliance market over the past few years, the price of domestic color TV has been declining, and the market share of many foreign brand TV sets has shrunk significantly, including Hitachi. Hitachi not only imported the original product and was severely impacted, but also the joint venture product in China lost its competitive advantage. The head of Hitachi’s China affairs admitted in an interview that Hitachi’s color TVs are currently unable to compete with domestic big brands on price. But at the same time, he also stated that this kind of competition in the Chinese home appliance industry is too vicious and the current price does not reflect the true birth of the enterprise.
