实践证明,第一课堂无法为学生提供足够的语言实践机会,很难真正做到“以学生为中心”。学生只在课堂上每周学习几个小时英语,而在课外没有接触英语的机会,不主动进行英语实践和练习,学生的学习成绩难以巩固;而开展英语第二课堂活动,则为学生创造更多的机会在课外用英语进行交流,使学生巩固和提高课堂上的学习效果,达到学以致用的目的。因此,在充分发挥第一课堂教学功能的基础上,如何开展英语第二课堂活动,使其发挥出最佳的教学效果,已成为我校英语教学改革实践中的一个重要研究课题。
