北宋欧阳修,是宋代古文运动的领袖、“唐宋八大家”之一。他的散文,抒情委婉,说理通达,语言流畅自然。到了晚年,因为他家藏书一万卷;集录金石遗文一千卷;有琴一张;有棋一局;又常置酒一壶,加上他这一老翁活动于上述五种事物之间,所以他自称“六一”居士。“六一”就是六个“一”。这位“六一”居士集中残年余力,修订自己一生的文章,用心良苦。他的夫人劝阻说:“为什么这样自寻苦吃?是怕先生嗔怪吗?”欧阳修笑着说:“不怕先生嗔怪,但怕后生耻笑。”欧阳修为什么不怕先生嗔怪,倒怕后生耻笑呢?这是有道理的。先生年事已高,即使嗔怪,时间也不长了。任何作品,对前人的影响总不如对后人的影响大。后生代代,影响是无穷尽的。优秀作品的流传,就如奇珍美玉,永远为后生提供着重要的生活、思想及创作经验,永远给人以美的享受。
