In addition to reducing energy consumption, it is also possible to reduce water infiltration into the front of the ditch, reduce water wastage and improve uniformity of field irrigation, by entering the water as a surge but not as a continuous stream of water. The inventors of Glen Stringham and Jack Keller of Utah State University said that when we wanted to find a way to automate surface irrigation, surge irrigation was thought of. We envision the intermittence of water flow and create a device to fulfill it. When this equipment was used in field trials, it was found that this method has many advantages in the water flow propulsion process.
