一般認爲晚清學人陳廷焯的《詞則》和《白雨齋詞話》代表他後期的詞學成就和詞學理論,其實這種看法尚有可議之處。以宋詞大家晏歐三家詞爲例,陳廷焯不僅對之選有數量不等的作品而且富有點評和賞析,其中《詞則》所選多分布在《閑情集》和《大雅集》中,並對三家詞多有褒獎和愛賞,但在《白雨齋詞話》中陳廷焯卻對晏歐詞多持指責批評態度,尤其認爲歐陽修詞已落下乘,與前期激賞态度完全相異。這種前恭後倨的評價現象反映陳廷焯出浙派入常派之際的詞學轉關思想。以晏歐三家詞批評爲例,《詞則》的核心詞學觀與陳廷焯早期的《雲韶集》一脈相承,相較而言,《白雨齋詞話》更能代表陳廷焯後期詞學轉關的思想,尤值得治詞者注意和審視。
