汉民族数千年的文明史使汉语融进了极为丰富的文化内容,汉语比起某些语言来具有更加深厚的文化积淀,汉语教学应当重视文化的教育。 例如许多汉语语言成分只有联系汉民族特定的文化才能得到完满的诠释,“红”一词为什么在汉族中常作为帮助别人完成美满姻缘的善良人的代称呢?不了解汉族著名戏剧《西厢记》的情节是无法深刻理解的。汉语中丰富的成语更是和汉族的历史文化有着千丝千缕的联系,最鲜明地体现出汉族的文化个性。不结合汉族具体的文化历史背景,单从形式上是难以领悟到其中深刻的含义的。因此,汉语教学要使学生知其然而且知其所以然,非讲授汉文化知识不可。
