1950年夏,第四野战军某师刚刚结束解放海南战役,驻扎在湖南休整。休整期间,该师政治部组织广大官兵开展“写自己、忆过去”的业余创作活动,于是快板书、顺口溜、“枪杆诗”大量涌现。一天,师文工团负责文学创作和舞台美术的分队长陆原和负责音乐的分队长岳仑从中发现了一首十分有趣的诗:“俺本是一个老百姓,扔下锄头来当兵……”其大意是:一名战士爹娘早丧、扛活做工、挨饿受冻,然后家乡解放、光荣入伍,进而打日寇、灭蒋匪,出生入死、经受考验、立功受奖的战斗经历。
In the summer of 1950, a division of the Fourth Field Army just finished the campaign to liberate Hainan and was stationed in Hunan for a rest. During the break, the division’s political department organized a large number of officers and men to engage in amateur creative activities such as “writing one’s own memory and remembering the past,” and so came promulgation of allegro, jingle, and “gun poem.” One day, division of literary and art troupes responsible for literary creation and stage art Lu Yuan and head Yue Yuelun, who is in charge of music, found a very interesting poem: “I was a common people, dropped a hoe to be a soldier ... ”The effect is: a warrior father and mother had early mourning, live and work, starving and freezing, and then hometown liberation, glorious enlisted, and then fight the Japanese invaders, Jiang bandits, born, died, tested, meritorious and award-winning combat experience.
