The F-102 is the first U.S.-based delta wing supersonic aircraft designed by the Convoy General Dynamics Convoy for the U.S. Air Force. It is mainly used in U.S. domestic air defenses. As early as 1945, Convair successfully developed the XF-92A Tail-Free Wing Tester XF-92A in 1948 on the basis of extensive research on transonic wind tunnel tests and calculations seized from Fascist Germany, based on the agreement of the U.S. Air Force. After a few years of flight tests, a large number of speed below M0.95 in the experimental data. On this basis, in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force’s request for the deployment of fire control systems and air-to-air missiles in 1950, Convoy modified and re-sized the XF-92A into a YF-102 pilot prototype at 1.22 times.
