[Overview of Adult Education Development] In 1996, there were 21,800 students enrolled in the adult primary schools in the province, a decrease of 17,700 compared with 1995; 109,200 people who erased illiterates were 43,500 fewer than the previous year; and the number of people participating in adult technical training reached 2,311,500 people, an increase of 65,400 over the previous year. In 1996, 30,100 students were enrolled in all kinds of adult secondary specialized schools in the province, down 27.3% over the previous year; there were 78,900 students enrolled, an increase of 630 over the previous year. In 1996, there were a total of 19,700 enrolled adult students in the province, an increase of 3.2% over the previous year.
