美国韦斯汀豪斯空气制动机公司(WA-BCO)研制装在转向架上的TMX型制动机已经5年多了。1988年以前的TMX型制动机方案成功地满足了北美铁路协会为装在转向架上的制动机和制动梁所规定的全部鉴定要求。然而,当时WABCO却认为,通过采用更为标准化的零部件并简化手制动,可以取得进一步改进。于是,采取了这些设计改进,与此同时在装有早期TMX型制动装置的27台试制型转向架上积累运用经验。 TMX型制动机甩的是一根V形桁架式制动梁,它是Buffalo制动梁公司为WABCO生产的。整个制动机总成由侧架端部导槽悬挂,因此无需与转向架摇枕或车体连接。
The Westinghouse Air Brake Company (WA-BCO) has been developing TMX brakes on bogies for more than five years. The TMX brake program prior to 1988 successfully met all of the North American RAA certification requirements for brakes and brake beams mounted on bogies. However, WABCO at the time believed that further improvements could be achieved through the use of more standardized components and simplified hand braking. As a result, these design improvements were taken while gaining experience with the 27 prototype bogies equipped with early TMX brakes. The TMX brake was powered by a V-shaped truss-type brake beam, which Buffalo Brake Beam Company produced for WABCO. The entire brake assembly is suspended from the side frame end guides so there is no need to connect with the bolster or bodywork.
