In Plato’s political philosophy, Plato had to explain the tension of politics and philosophy, but in the academic community did not receive enough attention. This article tries to discuss this issue from two aspects: First, Plato made a strict distinction between politics and philosophy in theory, and his “political-philosophical perspective” has explained the tension of both; second, Plato passed Into the cave trying to resolve the tension between the two to achieve the ideal of the philosopher-king, but for his own political practice, there is tension between his political philosophy and his political practice, he did not achieve this tension digestion. In general, Plato’s treatment of politics and philosophy is a more complex state of mind, a complex attitude that directly affects the entire Western political philosophy.
