In the long history of mankind, animal and human relations are very close. Some of them provide food for human existence, others are regarded as human friends, and some even become totem of human worship. Animal and human relationships are so close that many animal-related terms enter the human language and play an important role in communication. There are many animal-related terms in both English and Chinese, but the cultural background of English and Chinese is not the same, so the same word may give rise to different associative meanings. This paper mainly compares the “Dragon” of Chinese culture and the “Dragon” of English culture to discuss their respective images in their own culture and to reduce their mistakes in intercultural communication.
