In order to get rid of the backward method of manually measuring the diameter of wire and cable with a micrometer and to improve the measurement accuracy and speed of wires and cables, a revolutionary JS-1 type pilot was successfully trial-produced by Guangzhou Institute of Mechatronic Industry and Guangzhou Electric Wire Factory in September 1976 Laser digital caliper. The instrument is divided into laser scanner and digital measuring instrument two parts.
