Africa is a market of great potential. Since 1991, China has taken economic and trade relations with African countries as an important part of its strategy and made gratifying achievements in its non-trade and economic cooperation. In 1997, the trade volume between China and Africa reached 5.67 billion U.S. dollars, up 40.6% over the same period of last year, far exceeding the 4.4% in 1994 and 2.7% in 1996.
