四川地区的河道特点是:流量大,流速高,含砂量大,洪水期浑浊度高、变化大。据水文资料记载,几条主要河流常年最大含砂量均达10公斤/米~3,嘉陵江常年最大含砂量在20~40公斤/米~3之间(最大曾达70公斤/米~3)。这样的高浊度原水,现有澄清构筑物很难达到处理要求。为保证澄清构筑物的正常运行,过去均采取增设预沉池的办法。但每次上万度的原水持续时间不过几天,整个洪水期亦不过几次。因此探索一次净化的新池型以适应四川地区的高浊度水源是一个有意义的课题。
