Objective To understand the needs of sexual health education for college students and the recent results of AIDS prevention / sexually transmitted diseases prevention for undergraduates, and to explore effective ways of AIDS prevention intervention in colleges and universities. Methods Through lectures, DVDs, pamphlets and posters on campus, we intervened the second and third graders in three colleges in two universities in Zhejiang Province. Using the same questionnaire, we investigated the changes of college students’ sexual behavior before and after the intervention . Results Behavioral intervention had no significant effect on the number and the number of sexual partners of college students. At 3 months after intervention, college students persuaded their condom to use condoms and did not use condoms to refuse sexually-transmitted messages. Each time they used condoms and intended to use condoms, Had a marked increase in their confidence; among those who had sex in the past three months, HIV / STD had increased from 1.1% to 7.2% in hospitals or clinics; condoms were used to prevent AIDS among students who had used condoms , The proportion of sexually transmitted diseases increased significantly, up more than 25%. Conclusions Behavioral interventions will not make college students be more active in sexual activity. Behavioral intervention to enhance the confidence of college students to implement safe sex behavior and to change the college students and medical students to use condoms have a positive effect.
