古老的中国 ,盛行着“女色误国”、“女人是祸水”的说法 ,明清小说家难以避免受到这种道德教条的影响 ,女性总是处于被谴责、被批判的地位 ,总是习惯于把宣扬禁锢女性的旧女德作为作品的主旋律 ,用形象阐明 ,违反女性道德规范者必定遭受报应。 19世纪末至 2 0世纪初 ,中华大地虽也响起了争取女权的呼声 ,有小说家迅速地在创作中反映这种文化观念的变化 ,但女性在作品中还是没有获得应有的地位。明清“性沟”意识强烈的作品 ,则让我们更清楚地看到 ,千百年来 ,男权专制制度是如何不断完善着维护男性特权的家庭婚姻制度 ,千方百计地调整内部、外部结构效益机制 ,以满足男性奴役和统治女性的特殊要求
