Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most common and serious chronic microvascular complication of diabetes, which is also the main cause of end-stage renal disease. The key to control the progress of DN is to strengthen the early comprehensive prevention and treatment. Dietary nutrition therapy is one of the simple but effective ways to treat DN. Nutritional therapy is directly related to the tertiary prevention of DN. Early studies showed that low protein diet (LPD) can improve glomerular hyperfiltration, reduce proteinuria, and inhibit renal fibrosis in patients with DN, thereby slowing the progression of renal dysfunction [1]. A low-protein diet is prescribed and monitored by a nephrologist and nutritionist
