1992年12月22日,第47届联合国大会将每年的10月17日确定为国际消除贫困日,旨在引起国际社会对贫困问题的重视,动员各国采取具体扶贫行动,宣传和促进全世界的消除贫困工作。每年国际消除贫困日,联合国、各国政府及民间组织都要开展各种宣传与纪念活动。
On December 22, 1992, the 47th UN General Assembly designated October 17 each year as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, aiming at drawing the attention of the international community to the issue of poverty and mobilizing all countries to take concrete actions to alleviate poverty and promote Eradication of poverty. Every year on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, the United Nations, all governments and non-governmental organizations should conduct various propaganda and commemorative activities.
