作为一种独特的题材资源所衍生的电视剧类型,抗战电视剧的内容主题不可避免地会指涉到人民、国家、民族精神等与民族相关的叙事命题或层面,抗战叙事与民族形象的建构存在着一种内在有机的关联。以《沂蒙》和《中国地》等为代表的抗战电视剧,通过表现生活在中国社会最底层的人民群众自发、自觉地对敌抗战斗争,传达民族精神,建构民族形象。基于抗战时期中国政治版图分崩离析的状态,在底层抗战叙事中民族形象与国家形象往往呈现出一种错位的状态。同时,在底层抗战叙事中,作为叙事主体的底层民众在视野上的限制,决定了民族形象的建构不可能超越民族主义的立场。
