This paper introduces the mechanism of laser surface quenching and CO2 laser surface hardening test of 50Mn material. The experimental results are analyzed in detail. The general rules for choosing laser power density, scanning speed and other parameters in quenching process are proposed. Finally introduced the 50Mn steel parts batch quenching situation.
