抗战时期的桂林文化城,新舞蹈运动的开展是走在全国前列的。当很多人还不知舞蹈为何物时,中国当代舞蹈艺术的先驱者和奠基者吴晓邦、戴爱莲,就已经在桂林大力提倡新舞蹈艺术主张,并身体力行地进行着艺术实践了。他们通过作品创作、舞台表演、课堂教学,把中国舞蹈推上了剧场艺术的舞台,开创性地以舞蹈艺术为武器,为国家、民族而奋斗,并为中国的舞蹈事业奠定了基础,产生了深远的影响。
Guilin Cultural City during the war of resistance against Japan, the new dance movement is to go in the forefront of the country. When many people still do not know what dance is, Wu Xiaobian and Dai Ailian, pioneers and founders of contemporary Chinese dance art, have vigorously promoted the idea of new dance art in Guilin and practiced art practice. Through the creation of works, stage performances and classroom teaching, they have put Chinese dance on the stage of theater art, pioneered the use of dance art as a weapon, struggled for the nation and the nation, laid the foundation for the dance cause in China and produced profound influence.
