Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a refractory cancer and the second-leading cause of death worldwide.HCC is characterized by multicentric development, which accounts for unexpected recurrences even after successful treatment has been performed for the primary tumor, particularly the background liver exerts chronic inflammation and/or advanced fibrosis.
