1933年,我还在香港汉文中学读书,春假期间,偕同学韦志仁君赴澳门旅游。当时物价很便宜,由香港前往澳门,统舱船票只收港币2角。在澳门搭自行车尾去翠亨乡,每人只花1角。我们此行目的是专程瞻仰孙中山的故居。当时故居的规模、格局,与今天基本上相同。但因年久失修,木楼梯已岌岌可危,险象环生,屋瓦也残缺多处,时有积水下滴。故居中只有一老叟及一老妇人看守,不收门票,任由游客解囊赞助,我们只给了1毫钱港币,他们就欢天喜地了。

Our purpose is to make a special trip to pay tribute to Sun Yat-sen’s former residence. At that time, the size and pattern of the former residence were basically the same as today. However, due to disrepair, wooden staircase has been precarious, dangerous like a relic, housing tile is also incomplete, sometimes dripping. There was only one old woman and an elderly woman guarded in the former residence. Without admission tickets, tourists were given a sponsorship. We only gave Hong Kong Dollars for 1 cents and they were very happy.
