探险旅游者作为探险旅游市场的主导因素,明确其分类结构对探险旅游经营者和行业管理者意义重大。利用旅游动机、旅游者类型和探险旅游相关理论为基础,以长沙市户外探险旅游者为研究对象进行聚类实证研究,运用因子分析法识别出了社交情感、获取成就、个性独立(自我意识)、自我发现、接触大自然、自我完善、从众、解压等8个公因子,将8个公因子赋予新的变量值,运用聚类分析法,发现探险旅游者类型分为聚成社交联谊型探险旅游者、获取成就型探险旅游者、自我意识型探险旅游者、自我提升型探险旅游者、接触自然型探险旅游者、自我完善型探险旅游者等六类。
