In the Devonian limestone in the northwestern part of Guangxi, a large amount of carbonate rock dikes developed in the Permian Maokou Formation, which are upright in ecliptic origin, have aroused the interest of geologists. This paper attempts to explain this peculiar geological phenomenon by the earthquake catastrophic events. That is, during the Permian strong earthquakes, the liquefied sediment stream generated from the immature diagenetic soft sediments in the Maokou Formation penetrates under the pressure of overlying sediments In the fissures (faults, joints, etc.) of volcanic diagenetic hard Devonian limestones, limestone walls (veins) with upright bedding are formed. The above process reflects the different responses of a strong earthquake catastrophic event to soft sediments and hard rock formations.
