Chlamydial infection can induce the body’s immune system to produce antibodies and cytokines and play an immunoprotective role. This article describes the importance of the major outer membrane protein (MOMP) of chlamydia in humoral immunity, the synergistic effect of complement, and the mechanism of action of T cells in cellular immunity.
