Since the beginning of 1992, the most prominent feature of China’s economic operation is that the national economy has been growing at a high rate of 13% for two consecutive years. Second, the reform of the economic system has increased, whether it is structural adjustment of prices or conversion of price formation mechanisms. Both have taken bigger steps. At the same time, various contradictions accompanied by changes in the old and new systems and rapid economic growth have also become more prominent, and a series of changes have taken place in demand, supply conditions, and cost drivers. The pressure of inflation is rapidly being released, and the increase in prices has accelerated markedly, gradually evolving into a prominent problem affecting the acceleration of reform and the healthy development of the economy. In 1993, the national retail price level rose by 13.2% over the same period of the previous year. The cost of living in 35 large and medium-sized cities increased compared with the previous year.
