In view of the recent rapid development of coastal engineering in our country and to fill the ur gent demand for a suitable current meter to measure near surface currents, the Ocean University of Qingdao designed a propeller type SLC9 - 2 Direct Reading Current Meter of excellent dynamic char acteristics and not much affected by waves-The model is rationally designed, small and light, stable and reliable in operation, and economical in power consumption. It can be used to measure current speed and direction in near surface layers , especially in ultra- shallow water in oceans, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, estuaries, and ports-This paper focuses on the major properties, technical cruxes, experimental results, and applications of the model and touches briefly on its dynamic effectiveness with horizontal formations.
